Introducing the First Solution Bringing Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Quality to Notebooks

SINGAPORE - September 10, 2003 - Creative Technology Ltd. (NASDAQ: CREAF), a worldwide leader in digital entertainment for PC users, today announced immediate shipment of the Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 NX bringing 7.1 surround sound to the notebook. Notebook and desktop users alike can now enjoy 24-bit ADVANCED HD? audio quality of the award winning Sound Blaster® Audigy® 2 line with this external solution that connects easily via USB. When combined with the Creative Inspire T7700 speaker system, this stylish and compact device adds a new level of cinematic 7.1 surround sound to any notebook and PC. The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX is priced at only US$129.99 and will be available this month.

"Millions of people have their entire MP3 library and also play games on their notebook, but are forced to experience both with poor quality on-board audio," said Creative CEO Sim Wong Hoo. "By adding the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX that attaches easily over USB, every notebook and desktop user can now enjoy phenomenal sound. And by adding one of Creative's 7.1 speaker systems, a notebook can be transformed into a 7.1 surround sound solution for music, movies and games."

24-bit ADVANCED HD Audio Quality on the Notebook or Desktop

The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX features superior 24-bit ADVANCED HD audio through 24-bit/96kHz Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs) with a signal-to-noise ratio of 102dB. This allows the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX to provide high definition, ultra-quiet and hiss-free audio playback making MP3s, CDs and other audio content sound crisp and clear. This audio clarity is most noticeable when listening to DVD-Audio discs. DVD-Audio provides over eight times more detail (in terms of bitrate) than typical CD quality delivering clarity, while preserving the warmth and depth of the original recording. The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX allows listeners to enjoy DVD-Audio content on their notebook or desktop at up to 24-bit/96kHz in 5.1*.

7.1 for Dolby Digital EX Movies, DirectSound 3D Games and Up-mix of Stereo Music

7.1 speaker support adds two side speakers for better positioning of audio and effects around the listener, making the audio experience in movies, games and music more immersive than ever. The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX features built in Dolby Digital® EX decoding for DVD movies providing a truly cinematic surround sound experience when combined with 5.1 or 7.1 speakers. Gamers will experience dramatic 3D audio with DirectSound® 3D support and sophisticated reverb effects through EAX ADVANCED HD processing. Music enthusiasts benefit from the addition of 5.1 or 7.1 speakers because the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX supports patented CMSS® 3D audio technology that upmixes stereo content from MP3s or CDs to 5.1 or 7.1 surround. CMSS 3D can also create virtual 3D spatialization for headphones from Dolby Digital® 5.1 content.

Comprehensive Connectivity for Playback and Recording

The stylish and compact Audigy 2 NX has connectors to record from or play to virtually any audio device. The Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX incorporates a line in, mic in and optical S/PDIF in for either recording in stereo at 24-bit/96kHz or connecting MP3 players or other audio devices. Three line outs and a headphone out provides connectivity for speaker configurations from headphones to 7.1 surround. Included optical and coaxial S/PDIF outputs allow pass through of digital content.
