"We are uniquely positioned to take this exciting new technology to market," said Steve Mosher, vice president of the Graphics Business Unit for Creative. "Our emphasis on quality and reliability, our strong developer relations program, and our Engineering Team will be the factors that make the GeForce 256 the 'must-have' game processor this fall. With unique software enhancements, like our patent-pending real-time volumetric shadows, Creative's products are already the choice of serious gamers worldwide."
The GeForce 256 is an innovative new graphics processor that moves the entire 3D rendering pipeline to the graphics card, creating a whole new category: the Graphics Processing Unit, or GPU. By offloading these computationally intense tasks from the CPU, the GeForce 256 enables game developers to create games with significantly more detailed geometry, enhanced Artificial Intelligence (AI), and higher fidelity physics, resulting in more exciting, more immersive gameplay.
"A true pioneer in the graphics industry, NVIDIA continues to bring power, innovation and outstanding performance to PC users," said Hock Leow, chief technology officer for Creative. "We're proud to feature their technology as part of our industry leading graphics products."
"Creative has a long track record of producing award winning consumer products based on NVIDIA's graphics technology," said Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of NVIDIA. "We are pleased to be teaming up with the company to bring users a stunning new graphics experience based on the ground-breaking GeForce 256 GPU."
