SINGAPORE - 14 December 2010 - Creative Technology Ltd. today announced a strategic licensing agreement with Celestial Pictures, the Chinese motion picture company and operator of regional pay-TV channels, to distribute Celestial's Shaw Brothers Complete Film Collection of 668 movies in Singapore via the all-new ZiiEagle Movie Box, a state-of-the-art single home entertainment device capable of presenting whole movie libraries in high definition. The ZiiEagle Movie Box was made possible by means of Creative's collaborative efforts with Celestial Pictures through Vue Networks, a regional content creation and media technology company based in Singapore and an associated company of Creative. This collaboration is significant as it marks the first time that a substantial portion of full-length Shaw Brothers Film Library titles can be found on a single, portable device, all shown in their full original glory including movies not shown on Celestial movie channels.
Under the agreement, Creative provides the hardware and media processing power through its proprietary Zii Chipset, Vue Networks aggregates the digital media content and vast amount of metadata, while Celestial licenses the non-exclusive digital download rights as well as internet download-to-own rights to Creative to release an extensive range of the Shaw Brothers films covering multiple genres.
At the heart of the ZiiEagle Movie Box is Creative's Zii ZMS-05 HD Media-Rich Applications Processor which uses the latest Zii StemCell Computing™ technology to deliver high performance media processing in a low-power environment.

The films contained in the ZiiEagle Movie Box were carefully selected and categorised for an optimal viewing experience. Users can choose from any of 4 themes in the ZiiEagle Dreamscape, search for all members of the casts, and list actors and actresses by the films they have acted in. The vast amount of metadata involved in this process was aggregated by Vue Networks, including subtitle formatting, digital processing, final digital mastering, and conducting a rigorous audit of every single movie to ensure they adhere to the film classification guidelines laid out by the Media Development Authority of Singapore.

Celestial Pictures painstakingly restored the award-winning films from their original negatives, employing state-of-the-art digital technologies to restore the films frame-by-frame, yielding picture and sound quality even more striking than the original cinematic prints.
