CREATIVE'S ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIO EXTENSIONS API GARNERS INNOVATION OF THE YEAR '99 AWARD

Title Support Continues To Grow - Half-Life, SimCity 3000, Thief: The Dark Project, Myth II, Baldur's Gate and SiN Are The Latest Titles Available With EAX Support

MILPITAS, Calif. - March 3, 1999 - Creative Labs, Inc. (NASDAQ: CREAF) the world's leading provider of multimedia products for the PC, today announced that its Environmental Audio Extensions (EAX) application programmer's interface (API) for game developers has won a top European award. PC Intern, a top German publication that follows the multimedia industry has awarded EAX the Innovation of the Year '99 award. EAX is an open standard that allows developers to add new dimensions of audio realism through Microsoft DirectSound property sets.

PC Intern states: "With Environmental Audio Creative Labs has developed its own audio standard. Its easy programming functionality makes the EAX API ideally suited for game sellers. Game developers can easily incorporate pre-set sounds and effects to enhance their creations with 3D sound. The resulting sound is so real it is almost 'touchable'."

Support for EAX from developers continues to grow. The latest titles now available that support Environmental Audio through EAX are SimCity 3000, Descent Freespace, Blood 2, Thief: The Dark Project, FIFA '99, Half-Life, Baldur's Gate, Myth II, Motorhead, SiN and Wages of SiN. For a complete list of titles and patches for download with EAX support, please visit our Web site at: https://www.soundblaster.com/eaudio/eax/.

Environmental Audio goes beyond 3D positional audio - sounds will appear to come from all corners of a room or space adding reverb, echo, and other effects consistent with the room acoustics, position of the player, source of the sound, and many other cues.
